Welcome to the Bridge Wiki!
We're glad you're here and want you to be as involved as you'd like to be.
- Want to read? This is a public wiki and anyone with a web browser and internet connection can read the material published in these pages. No sign-up is required. Just click links and find what you want to read.
- Want to read & comment? In order to prevent comment spam, we require that anyone who wants to comment sign up for a PBWiki account and joint the Bridge Wiki as a member. If you need help with this process, follow the steps in the tutorial below.
- Want to contribute to the pages, add pages or edit pages? Well, guess what. This is a wiki, and if you are a member you can do just that - with the exception of a few locked pages that only administrators can edit.
Sign-Up Tutorial
There are two ways to initiate the process to become a contributing member of the Bridge Wiki. Either you received an invitation email from one of our administrators, or you can request to join. We'll show you what to do in both cases.
If you haven't received an invitation email, we still want you to join. Here's how.
1. Surf to the wiki. You can get to the Bridge Wiki from the Bridge City website, from a bookmark you created, or by surfing directly to www.bridgewiki.pbwiki.com. In the upper right corner of the front page, you'll see a Log In link. Click it.
2. Request Access. You'll be directed to the standard log-in page. It looks like this.
On the right side you'll see a button labeled, "Request Access." The Bridge Wiki is public for anyone to read, but in order to prevent comments spam, we require that anyone who wants to contribute, either by comments or by adding and editing pages, join as a member. If that's what you want, click that button.
3. Wait. This sends an email to our admins. One of them will get back with you as soon as possible. You will receive an invitation email as soon as they process your request. Once you receive that email, you can move on to the next steps.
Once you have received an "Invitation Email:"

1. Click the "Join" link in your email. Your email will look like this. Click the big blue link embedded in the email. It will take you to an account registration page, all set up for this wiki.

2. An account page will open up in your web browser. Enter your name and a password. Because we encourage real relationships in this community, we request that you use your actual name, or a nickname that is easily identifyable as you, rather than an unclear nickname. (i.e. Marc Schelske, rather than Smiley06 or MeanMarcus.)
3. Create your account profile. Once you click "save" you'll be taken to your PBwiki profile. This log-in information can now be used to enter any PBWiki that you become a member of, not just the Bridge Wiki. In your profile, please enter your basic contact information and location.

In your account profile you'll be able to do a number of things. You can link to any wiki you're a member of. You can also specify if (and how often) you want to get email notifications of activity on the wiki. For example, if you wanted to get notice that other people had commented you could set yourself to get that email once a day. By default notifications are turned off, but you can set them at whatever frequency you prefer.
4. Upload an "avatar" photo. We'd also like to have you upload an "avatar" photo. This picture will show up on your comments. Like this. Because we encourage real relationships in this community, we request that you use an actual face shot of yourself.

You can do this on the second tab labeled "Profile." Look for a section of the page that looks like this. Select the "Upload your picture" option and then use the "Browse" tool to find a suitable picture on your computer. Click "Save" and the picture will be uploaded.
5. Log in to Bridge Wiki and participate. Now that you've created an account, you are all set to log in and participate. You can get to the Bridge Wiki from the Bridge City website, from a bookmark you created, or by surfing directly to www.bridgewiki.pbwiki.com. Look for the log-in link in the upper right corner.

6. Check out the info we've posted for new users. Using a wiki can be an intimidating thing if you're not used to it. We've tried to make that as easy as possible by posting a number of very helpful pages that will get you oriented. You'll find them on the front page of the wiki. Look for the "Are you new here?" badge. Follow those links and learn how to use this great tool.
