How It Will Work
This schedule presents the entire Bible in the course of a year with a passage each day from the new testament, the old testament, the Psalms and Proverbs. The pace is pretty fast with a sizable amount of reading each day. It's around thirty minutes for most people. Reading the Bible at this pace doesn't allow time for much deep study, but it does offer the reader a great overview of the entire narrative of scripture, helping to establish a clear perspective on the connections between the old and new testament. Reading the Bible in this fashion will give you a sense of context for the various stories and episodes you might be familiar with, and will deepen and strengthen your general Biblical literacy and understanding of the teachings of the Bible.
This Reading Plan in 2009
Our Guided Reading Cohort in 2009 will be using this schedule. If you prefer a slower pace you can chose to do the New Testament only reading on your own, or even better - still participate in the Whole Bible reading, but limit yourself to a certain part -- only the Psalms, or Proverbs, or only reading 5 days a week. The benefit of doing the guided group is that you will be accompanied through the year by others on the same journey. This provides community and accountability, and the opportunity to discuss what you're experiencing.

Each page presents the passages for the day, along with helpful Coaching Comments that will point out interesting or important features in the text. You will also see a link to the comments posted by the 2007 Cohort. You may find these comments helpful as they address questions and reflections that people had over the course of the year.
