Bridge City Cell Summit

Date:  Saturday, 10/18.

Time: Saturday 10 AM - 4 PM

Purpose:

1)  To help current cell members catch the vision we share in CLI.

2) To broaden exposure to cells and draw in more people.

Flow of the day

10:00 AM        (45 min.)  Prayer Summit

Directed prayer activity, praying for God's presence and power in our cell groups, praying for cell leaders, praying for groups that are struggling, praying for people to come to know Christ through cells, etc.  Interactive, guided prayer activities.  Specifically focus on inviting current cell members.

Target Audience: CLI and interested members who are willing to pray for the ministry

Planning Responsible Parties:  Julie S (Point Person), Candi B, Brenda R.

  • Possibly including short acoustic worship set, individual prayer activity like Prayer Wall, small group prayers, corporate time of prayer.
  • Prayer focus: God's guidance and direction to Bridge City, health of the cells, hearts of the cell leaders, hearts of the church, growth and maturity of the church.
  • Use 401.  Make sure music rehearsal in 501 is finished by 10 AM to avoid noise conflict.

11:00 AM         (90 min.)    Worship Service

Themed around the cell ministry.  Casting the vision of the central nature of Biblical Community, and laying the foundation of why this is so critical.  The tone will be exciting, visionary, compelling.

Target Audience: All church, especially people who don't "get" cell yet, laying the vision foundation.

Planning Responsible Parties:  Normal Worship Planning Process, Brittany OW, Marc S, Worship Leaders      (All our ideas are handed off to them.)

  •   Hand off all programming ideas to Brittany.
  •   Story possibilities: Dave J, Paul O (video), Lois & Caleb (video), Nate & Candi B.

12:45        (30 min.)    Lunch

A great lunch with catered food, served family style at various tables, with salad already at tables when people arrive.  Possibly having Heartlife students or Axcent students serving.  Engaging conversation at the table, and in the later Q&A to build excitement about cell.

Target Audience:  Hungry people who want to know more.

Planning Responsible Parties:  Tracy J (Point Person), Tashell K, Brenda R, Julie S.

  • Arrange catering, served family style at tables.  Shoot for 75 people.  Get some bids to see what ballpark we're in.
  • Seat a CLI member or 2 at each table to facilitate conversation.
  • Provide "Welcome Question" and discussion prompters regarding the cell experience.
  • Beautify 401, tables, etc.
  • Arrange servers.

1:15            (45 min.) Lunch Program Block

About the time dessert comes out, begin the stage program part of the lunch, engaging people's questions and talking about the experience of cell to draw people in and build more interest.

Target Audience:  People who want to know more.

     Planning Responsible Parties: Marc S.

  • Teen Stories.  3-5 teen cell members talk about how cell is impacting them.  Possibly Matti W, Mak L, AC O.
  • Follow that with Open Mic Panel Q&A.  Include Brittany, 2 cell leaders, 1 veteran cell member, 1 new cell member, 1 teen member?  Who are the right people who "get" the process and would be able to think on their feet? (Potentially Michelle A, Don L, Jacqui W, Candi B)
  • End lunch block with 1 min. promo's from break-out leaders.
  • Kid video here or durin
  •

2:00            (45 min.) Break Out Session 1

A list of breakout options that people can choose from.  Sessions have 35 minutes of content, interaction & discussion, with an 8-10 minute break to transition to the next session.  Breakouts options need to include something relevant for new people as well as long-time cell members.  Small groups, led by 2 CLI people or other leaders.

     Target Audience:  Everyone

     Planning Responsible Parties:

          Oversee and arrange:  Marc S.

          Lead sessions:  Various of us.

Take the link below to a page for the break out.  Marc will provide basic direction and some resources, and can help you develop your material.  I've slotted people into places that I think they would work well, and where it might be of benefit for them to go through the material as well, in some cases.  Let me know if any of this doesn't work for you.

2:45            (45 min.) Break Out Session 2

Same exactly as first session, with people moving to a different group.

3:30            (30 min.) Closing Session

Everyone comes back together for a brief, focused session to affirm their participation, cast vision for the process, and invite them to get involved.

     Target Audience:  Everyone

Planning Responsible Parties: Brittany OW, Marc S.

  • A clear way for people to see the cells, and begin involvement.
  • A clear way for people to begin the internship process.

Other logistical Needs:  Child Care

Child Care / Kids's Activity starting after dessert is served at lunch, through the end of the day.

     Planning Responsible Party: Christina S.

Other logistical Needs:  Publications

Planning Responsible Party: Marc S, Office Staff

  • Poster, Inserts, Email Invitation
  • Publish order of the day and break-out details
  • Some kind of sign-up / RSVP so we can make food plans.  Plus include space for a certain number of walk-ins.

Other Notes

  • Arrange Building Turn-Around Team to refresh the building at 4:00 PM
  • Touch bases with Trinity about the spaces they are using so we don't conflict.
  •

Wow Marc! You've already put a lot of thought into this and I am really liking the direction it is going. There are a couple of things I would be interested in helping with (though of course you can count on me to fill in on something different if no one else signs up)... they are: prayer session, food, and drama... the greatest of these is drama!

Hey Candi - most of this isn't really my thinking. We had a great meeting on Friday night and everyone worked hard to put this together. We missed you, but know you had important things to attend to. All three of the things you mention could use a creative self-starter like you!

No problem, Tracy. We'll wait for any final feedback over the weekend, and then we'll get rolling.

Im not sure how or where to get involved. You can plug me in where needed or assign me a task! I love the Drama idea but have no resources for that but could be involved that way. Other than that, Im willing to help where needed!

Still waiting to hear from our group about any ideas for breakout sessions. I was thinking that a session on how to use the W's as a tool for growth in the cell group (maybe geared toward people who are newish in the cell process) would be useful. I would be interested in co-facilitating one of the breakout sessions but I am wary about committing with my due date so close. And whatever type of stuff that needs to happen beforehand (like planning type things), I can help with that.

Talked about it at cell group on Thursday. They wrote it in their calendars and said they'd be thinking about what they'd like to hear more about. Tashell is going to email them all today and see if we can pin down some ideas. We had two totally new people at cell group this last week. This was their first taste and they need to gather information from scratch. One asked if she could bring her mother-in-law next week. Whew! Alot happening from newbies!

Dave Johnson has added some comments: "I think there needs to be more thought put into keeping the Cell Groups interested. We seem to do the same thing each week. The only variety we have comes from the locations we meet at. I believe that the leaders of the cell process should have activities planned that get the cells out of their comfort zone. "
Tracy adds: I believe this is a true statement, BUT also investment in the process and ownership of responsibilities would create a variety...

It's been taking some time, but ideas are forming about the "prayer" time before the worship service. Hoping to talk with Candi and Brenda this week.

One concern about location --401. I'm thinking that Cheryl Null (who has been asked to help with decorations for the dinner afterwards) will be busily beutifying during this time (in order to be done before service starts). I am hoping for a quiet atmosphere with background music. Thoughts......
